With their magnetic MagSafe function, these phones can be placed directly on the holder, either without a cover or with a MagSafe or MagSafe-compatible cover on.
With the built-in N52 neodymium magnets, we estimate that the holder is strong enough to hold 1.5 kg. So your phone will be held in place in an easy and secure way. And you can just grab the phone and turn it to a horizontal position if you want. When you have to take it off the holder, put a few fingers against the holder and almost pull it off to the side to spare your cover. It's just a matter of habit and can be done in one motion.
When a phone is placed on the holder, the built-in fan will start automatically. You can also activate it yourself by lightly touching the touch button on top of the holder, with the snowflake symbol. Then the phone's charging area will be cooled down quickly and charging can continue. You will appreciate this function in the summer, when the phone is sitting on the holder, which may be placed high on the dashboard and the sun heats it up.
Qi wireless charging provides 7.5 W for iPhone 8 and up, and with this new Qi2 wireless charging, iPhones 12 series and up (except for the SE models and 16e) are now charged with a real 15 W.
You should also be aware that if you just take the power from a USB socket directly, if it can provide enough power. If it does not provide enough power, the charging will be slow and you should instead consider having the installation made as a permanent installation, where the power is taken directly from the fuse box.
